pHealth 2011 Lyon, France,

Organised with the collaboration of EU's Microsystems and ICT for Health units since 2003, the pHealth forum seeks to identify and tackle the key challenges to successful "pHealth" provision, challenges which hinder the commercialisation and clinical uptake of viable healthcare solutions. This is achieved through the strategic bringing together of key players in the healthcare provision chain – researchers, industrialists, medical doctors, hospital administration, healthcare policy makers and other interested bodies. pHealth is therefore not just another conference but rather an arena for interaction, discussion and action.

As a result, the pHealth conference has emerged as the leading international meeting on wearable micro and nano technologies for personalized medicine and it has given visibility to the tremendous potential of micro and nano technologies not only for the future of medicine, but also for the improvement of healthcare processes today. The event addresses converging technologies (NANO-BIO-ICT) and other non-technological issues that are critical for EU innovation & industry and for the EU citizen.

After highly successful prior meetings, most recently in Berlin, it will be our pleasure to welcome the pHealth community to the beautiful and dynamic city of Lyon, birth place of such notable scientists as Claude Bernard and André-Marie Ampere.

pHealth 2011 will take place in Lyon, 29th June to 1st July 2011 in the venue is the Espace Tête d'Or conference centre, 103 boulevard Stalingrad, 69100 Lyon, near the attractive "Tête d'Or" park.

It is envisaged that Reviewed and Accepted papers will be published in LNCS, Springer (to be confirmed) and will be indexed by relevant databases.

Lyon is more than 2000 years old and, as a consequence, has exceptional cultural and tourist sites to visit such as the 3 Romans theaters, the cathedral, 29 museums and wonderful “Vieux Lyon”, one of the largest Renaissance quarters in Europe and now classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Lyon is the 'world capital of gastronomy' with an estimated 1500 restaurants (including the famous Bocuse restaurant). It is the birthplace of the cinema and is an international venue for leading-edge artistic events (dance festivals, contemporary art festivals, etc...).

Lyon is close to the Alps (200 km from Mont Blanc), Paris (2 hours by TGV) and the French Riviera (1.5 hours by car). It is in the heart of the vineyards of Beaujolais, Burgundy and the Rhône valley. It is traversed by two rivers, the Rhône and the Saône, though the locals believe there is a third one: The Beaujolais River!
